Seeds

You will get the best value on seeds by ordering from Kings through Vibeke in the autumn as prices are heavily discounted for TGAA members. At other times, a seasonal selection of seeds is available at the Trap Trading shed (open 11-1 on Saturdays and 2-3 on Sundays).

Seed potatoes

Seed potatoes are sold in the Trap Trading shed from February. For old and/or unusual varieties, try specialist seed potato supplier JBA Seed Potatoes.

Manure suppliers

You can buy bags of farm manure from Trap Trading at £3.50 per bag. There are also local farmers who can provide trailer loads. If you have to organise a delivery - via the Walton Well Rd entrance to Port Meadow - remember:

you need to organise the keys from a committee member;
it's better to organise deliveries before the wet winter weather sets in, since both access to their farms for manure, and access to the allotment site, can be adversely affected if the ground is wet.

Free timber

If you are thinking of building a compost bin - or other structure - out of wooden pallets, you can get them free from Johnsons Buildbase which is a builders merchant on the Watlington Road in Cowley. They have various sizes of pallets - as well as old fencing panels and other scrap timber - that they are happy to supply to TGAA members free of charge. The contact is Shaun Johnson.
